Corinna Krause from Sollas Translation has provided the Hebridean Smokehouse Ltd with excellent translation services over several years. When we need information translating concerning our produce, service, or the local environment, Sollas Translation has been efficient and very responsive to our requirements. We have used Corinna’s services for our website, for trade shows and for important correspondence with overseas customers. Some of the translation has required extra effort on Corinna’s part because of the specific and technical nature of the vocabulary relating to our products and processes. We really appreciate Corinna’s attention to detail in getting exactly the right wording and nuanced translation.

It was a pleasure to work with Sollas Translation on our publishing project. This was a challenging (but exciting) task, the aim being to publish the first ever German-Scottish Gaelic collection of short stories. I’m pleased to say that Corinna contributed massively to the success of the project. There was a range of subject matter, writing styles, registers and approaches to language contained in the short story collection. Corinna took our particular needs in her stride, employing an understanding, thoughtful and efficient approach to translation. She’s responsive, reliable and gets things done in a professional manner. I’d have no hesitation in recommending her.

As a poetry editor working for a number of different publishers it has been my great pleasure to have employed Corinna Krause, Sollas Translation, on several occasions to translate work of an extremely demanding nature from Gaelic into German. On each occasion she has delivered work of the highest quality, meeting deadlines with unfaltering reliability, and fully cooperating with the publisher and myself to ensure the most meticulous correction of each copy-edit or set of proofs as required for publication.

Editing anthologies of Scottish poetry, Intime Weiten. Schottische Gedichte (Folio Verlag, Bozen und Wien, 2006) and Beredter Norden. Schottische Lyrik seit 1900 (Edition Rugerup, Hörby, 2011) – works which between them included some 30 Gaelic poems of varying length by a range of authors writing in different periods – it was important to find a translator who was not only in a position to respond with unusual sensitivity to a wide range of Gaelic poetry, but equally important, who was able to rebuild the translated poems in a language evidencing a mature understanding of register, musicality, form and lexis in the German tongue. Corinna Krause’s work has invariably met these requirements. I recommend her work without reserve.
